Proud father Kevin Zak writes, "I've only been a fan for about a year, but when I found out I was having a daughter, one of the first names I thought of was Arya. Well, my wife wasn't too into the "y" spelling (she's not much of a book reader, though I did get her to read the Hedge Knight so I'll keep trying to push the Ice & Fire series on her) so we compromised with the "i" spelling since we both play multiple musical instruments. Attached is a picture of Aria Michelle Zak, 2 months old on 12/7/06. "

Of course, the pronuncation is going to differ. Your daughter will pronounce her name "ar-ee-ah," while my sweet homicidal brainchild says, "ar-yah." I imagine your daughter won't kill as many people either.
