Subterranean Press Special Editon of DYING OF THE LIGHTOctober 30, 2012
Thirty-five years ago a young college journalism instructor had his first novel published. He already had six years of published science fiction short stories under his belt but this was his first novel – Dying of the Light. A melancholy, romantic and elegiac science fiction tale written by a melancholy and romantic young man. It was well received and nominated for a Hugo, losing out to Fred Pohl’s Gateway. This young writer has done pretty well for himself in the last thirty-five years, and his talent was evident from the first. Subterranean Press has just published a beautiful new hardcover of Dying of the Light by George R.R. Martin, copiously illustrated by the talented artist Tom Kidd, signed by both George and Tom, and limited to 500 numbered and twenty-six lettered copies. The lettered copies are already sold out but numbered copies are still available.
