<\/p>\nSeems like just a week or so since we got back from worldcon.\u00a0 Nice city, Seattle; I hadn’t been there in ages.\u00a0 \u00a0And worldcon was a lot of fun.\u00a0 \u00a0Low key, friendly,\u00a0 a nice mix of old friends and new ones.\u00a0 \u00a0(And ghosts, too.\u00a0 \u00a0Too damn many ghosts.\u00a0 \u00a0Every time I go to a worldcon, they haunt me.\u00a0 \u00a0Ed Bryant, John Miller, Howard Waldrop, Gardner Dozois, Phyllis Eisenstein, so many more).<\/p>\n
After worldcon, I drove home with Janice Gelb and Stephen Boucher, through Washington, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, the Land o’ Enchantment, Sante Fe… and then down to Albuquerque for Bubonicon, our local con.\u00a0 \u00a0Much much smaller than worldcon. of course, less than a thousand people… but very low key, a reminder of what fandom used to be like.<\/p>\n
We finally got all our suitcases unpacked and our laundry done… just barely in time.\u00a0 We’re off tomorrow for New York City and the NYC Comicon, a huge gathering that dwarfs all the worldcons every held put together.\u00a0 \u00a0About 150,000 attendees, they tell me, all jammed into the Jacob Javits Convention center.<\/p>\n
That’s where HBO is going to be rolling out A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS for the first time, come Thursday.<\/p>\n

We’re flying into New York tomorrow, Oct 8.\u00a0 \u00a0Ira Parker, our showrunner, is flying in from Beflast, and bringing Dunk and Egg with him; that is to say, Peter Claffey (Dunk) and Dexter Sol Ansell (Egg).\u00a0 \u00a0They are both incredible, perfect for their parts.\u00a0 I think you guys will love them.\u00a0 \u00a0(And I rather expect NYCC is going to blow their minds)<\/p>\n
HBO has a teaser\/ trailer ready to go, in addition to the panel.<\/p>\n
And that’s just the beginning, not the end.\u00a0 I’ll be around to the rest of the con as well.\u00a0 \u00a0We have a couple of signings scheduled, an interview or two, another panel or two… and a screening of three short films based on the work of Howard Waldrop: THE UGLY CHICKENS, THE NIGHT OF THE COOTERS, MARY MARGARET ROAD GRADER.\u00a0 \u00a0You won’t want to miss those.<\/p>\n
And I am only one of comicon’s guests.\u00a0 There will be some amazing folks on hand.\u00a0 \u00a0Check out the guest list.<\/p>\n
