if you enjoyed our short films, the adaptations of <em>MARY-MARGARET ROAD-GRADER<\/em>, <em><strong>NIGHT OF THE COOTERS<\/strong><\/em>, and <em><strong>THE UGLY CHICKENS<\/strong><\/em> that we&#8217;ve been showing at film festivals over the past couple of years, we have big news a-coming.\u00a0\u00a0 A Waldrop <em><strong>feature<\/strong><\/em> is on the way.\u00a0 All animated, from Lion Forge.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s an adaptation of Howard&#8217;s novella <strong><em>A DOZEN TOUGH JOBS, <\/em><\/strong>his\u00a0 take on the Twelve Labors of Hercules.\u00a0\u00a0 Joe Lansdale, the Sage of Nacogdoches, father of Hap and Leonard, and creator of <strong><em>Bubba Ho-Tep<\/em><\/strong>, did the screenplay, and no one could have done it better except maybe Howard His Own Self.<\/p>\n<p>(I know, I know.\u00a0 Some of you will just be pissed off by this, as you are by everything I announce here that is not about Westeros or <em><strong>THE WINDS OF WINTER<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>You have given up on me, or on the book.\u00a0 I will never finish WINDS,\u00a0 If I do, I will never finish A DREAM OF SPRING.\u00a0\u00a0 If I do, it won&#8217;t be any good.\u00a0 I ought to get some other writer to pinch hit for me&#8230; \u00a0 \u00a0 I am going to die soon anyway, because I am so old.\u00a0\u00a0 I lost all interest in <em>A Song of Ice and Fire<\/em> decades ago.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t give a shit about writing any longer, I just sit around and spend my money.\u00a0\u00a0 I edit the Wild Cards books too, but you hate Wild Cards.\u00a0\u00a0 You may hate everything else I have ever written, the Hugo-winners and Hugo-losers, &#8220;A Song for Lya&#8221; and <strong><em>DYING OF THE LIGHT<\/em><\/strong>, &#8220;Sandkings&#8221; and B<em><strong>EAUTY AND THE BEAST<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0 &#8220;This Tower of Ashes&#8221; and &#8220;The Stone City,&#8221; <strong><em>OLD MARS<\/em><\/strong> and <strong>O<\/strong><em><strong>LD VENUS<\/strong><\/em> and<strong><em> ROGUES<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>WARRIORS<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>DANGEROUS WOMEN\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>and all the other anthologies I edited with my friend Gardner Dozois,\u00a0\u00a0 You don&#8217;t care about any of those, I know.\u00a0\u00a0 You don&#8217;t care about anything but <strong><em>WINDS OF WINTER<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 You&#8217;ve told me so often enough).<\/p>\n<p>Thing is, I <strong><em>do<\/em><\/strong> care about them.<\/p>\n<p>And I care about Westeros and <strong><em>WINDS <\/em><\/strong>as well.\u00a0 The Starks and Lannisters and Targaryens, Tyrion and Asha, Dany and Daenerys, the dragons and the direwolves, I care about them all.\u00a0 More than you can ever imagine.<\/p>\n<p>I loved &#8220;A Dozen Tough Jobs&#8221; the first time I read it, ages ago.\u00a0\u00a0 I loved Howard too.\u00a0 It saddens me that he did not live long enough to see the film; I hope we do him justice.\u00a0\u00a0 How can we not?\u00a0 Hercules, Howard, Joe, Lion Forge&#8230;
