{"id":6661,"date":"2020-11-18T10:28:35","date_gmt":"2020-11-18T17:28:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/georgerrmartin.com\/notablog\/?p=6661"},"modified":"2020-11-22T12:59:38","modified_gmt":"2020-11-22T19:59:38","slug":"farewell-to-jerry-jeff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/georgerrmartin.com\/notablog\/2020\/11\/18\/farewell-to-jerry-jeff\/","title":{"rendered":"Farewell to Jerry Jeff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was saddened to read (somewhat belatedly) of the death of Jerry Jeff Walker.<\/p>\n<p>While I never had a chance to listen to Jerry Jeff perform in person, I always liked his music&#8230; going all the way back to the 70s, when I first discovered him.\u00a0\u00a0 (Yes, I do like country, especially the sort that used to be called &#8220;outlaw&#8221; country, as performed by the likes of Willie Nelson, Townes van Zandt, Kinky Friedman, and Kris Kristofferson, all favorites).<\/p>\n<p>Even if you don&#8217;t listen to country, you probably know one of Walker&#8217;s songs: &#8220;Mr Bojangles,&#8221; which was a hit for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and has been covered by many others.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s another of my favorites from Jerry Jeff.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Jerry Jeff Walker - L.A.
