{"id":5271,"date":"2019-03-11T10:25:57","date_gmt":"2019-03-11T16:25:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/georgerrmartin.com\/notablog\/?p=5271"},"modified":"2019-03-10T16:58:08","modified_gmt":"2019-03-10T22:58:08","slug":"yay-for-captain-marvel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/georgerrmartin.com\/notablog\/2019\/03\/11\/yay-for-captain-marvel\/","title":{"rendered":"Yay for Captain Marvel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The newest Marvel movie, CAPTAIN MARVEL, is a lot of fun.<\/p>\n<p>As an old (very very old) Marvel fanboy, I am a little saddened that they dropped the original Captain Marvel (not counting Fawcett&#8217;s Big Red Cheese), the Kree warrior Mar-Vell, from the continuity.\u00a0\u00a0 THE DEATH OF CAPTAIN MARVEL was one of Marvel&#8217;s classics, way back when.\u00a0\u00a0 Maybe that&#8217;s just me, though.\u00a0\u00a0 I am kind of a purist when it comes to adaptations.<\/p>\n<p>Considered just on its own terms, the movie is hugely entertaining.\u00a0\u00a0 I look forward to seeing how the Marvel teams uses the captain in the forthcoming Avengers movie.\u00a0 Once she comes fully into her powers, she is far and away the most powerful character in the MCU. \u00a0 She could eat Iron Man for lunch and have Thor for dessert, with a side of Dr. Strange. \u00a0 Thanos is in trouble now.<\/p>\n<p>Be sure to stay to the very very end of the credits.\u00a0\u00a0 The film has TWO Easter Eggs at the end, not just one.\u00a0\u00a0 In the theatre where I saw the movie, most of the audience left after the first of those, and missed the second.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The newest Marvel movie, CAPTAIN MARVEL, is a lot of fun.
