{"id":1266,"date":"2014-11-10T19:00:46","date_gmt":"2014-11-10T19:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/georgerrmartin.com\/notablog\/?p=1266"},"modified":"2017-08-29T19:51:23","modified_gmt":"2017-08-29T19:51:23","slug":"dangerous-women-take-hpls-head","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/georgerrmartin.com\/notablog\/2014\/11\/10\/dangerous-women-take-hpls-head\/","title":{"rendered":"Dangerous Women Take HPL&#8217;s Head"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DANGEROUS WOMEN, the big crossgenre anthology that Gardner Dozois and I edited for Tor, was announced as the winner of the World Fantasy Award for Best Anthology of 2013 on Sunday, at the World Fantasy Convention in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n<p>I wasn&#39;t able to attend the con this year (I do hope to be at next year&#39;s event, in Saratoga), but Gardner was on hand, and accepted for the both of us.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"wfa 2014\" src=\"http:\/\/georgerrmartin.com\/notablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/import\/222274_600.jpg\" title=\"wfa 2014\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The news came as a pleasant surprise&#8230; nay, even a shock.&nbsp; Neither Gardner nor I thought we had a prayer of winning.&nbsp; The anthology shortlist was very strong this year.&nbsp; But this one is case where I was glad to be proved wrong.<\/p>\n<p>My thanks to the fans and readers who nominated us,&nbsp; to the judges who chose us as winner, to our editors and publishers and all the rest of the good folks at Tor and Harper.&nbsp; And of course to our writers, whose talents made DANGEROUS WOMEN.&nbsp;&nbsp; We had a great lineup:<\/p>\n<p>INTRODUCTION, by Gardner Dozois<br \/>SOME DESPERADO, by Joe Abercrombie<br \/>MY HEART IS EITHER BROKEN, by Megan Abbott<br \/>NORA&rsquo;S SONG, by Cecelia Holland<br \/>THE HANDS THAT ARE NOT THERE, by Melinda Snodgrass<br \/>BOMBSHELLS, by Jim Butcher<br \/>RAISA STEPANOVA, by Carrie Vaughn<br \/>WRESTLING JESUS, by Joe R.
