#GRRMinion 🙂

Howdy All,

We Minions here at Fevre River wanted to let you in on some great new products brought to you by our friends at Valyrian Steel.

This time Valyrian Steel is bringing to life, for your pleasure, a set of two blades belonging to the dashing Daario and the recently acquired and renamed Oathkeeper, last seen in the possession of Brienne of Tarth.  Both of these blades are based on the Book series versions, but keep an eye out as our friends at Jalic regularly put out great work based on the television series as well.

Have a look at these impressive reproductions, they can come in damascus or classic steel and each have a lovely letter of authenticity as well as a decorative plaque to mount on your wall and intimidate burglars.

Have a look:

And here are some links to the order pages:

These outstanding reproductions will only be available on a limited run so get your soon!

Thanks everyone!

Swords for Sale

The intrepid armorers and brawny blacksmiths at Valyrian Steel have been busy of late. Valyrian has just rolled out two weapons in their new HBO-licensed line of replicas — the Catspaw Dagger used by the rogue sent to kill Bran in his bed, and the Sword of Robb Stark.

(For those of you who have been collecting Valyrian’s replicas of the weapons from the novels, yes, that line is continuing as well, but Jalic has also entered into this deal with HBO to produce limited edition replicas of the blades from the show. So it is entirely possible that eventually there will be two variant ‘editions’ of the same blade, though it has not happened yet).

Here’s the Catspaw Dagger:

Catspaw 2

A handsome blade, I think. Though rather completely different from the dagger in the books, which was far plainer (though made of Valryian steel, with a dragonbone grip). It can be ordered here:

http://www.valyriansteel.com/shop/swords/catspaw-blade/prod_20.html

The Sword of Robb Stark is never described in any detail in my novels… but if I ever had paid it any mind, it probably would have looked quite a lot like the one seen in the show, which Valyrian Steel has replicated. So this one can almost be considered “novel authentic” as well as “show authentic.” Here ’tis:

Robbs sword on Plaque

You can order Robb’s sword at http://www.valyriansteel.com/shop/swords/robb-stark/prod_21.html

Both weapons come with a Certification of Authenticity — though, please note, not a SIGNED CoA, since these derive from the TV show, not the books. The weapons from the ICE & FIRE range, as opposed to the GAME OF THRONES range, are the only ones that include my illegible scrawl.

Speaking of which, I should also note that Valyrian Steel’s replica of Needle, the sword of Arya Stark, is now SOLD OUT, like Longclaw and Ice before it (a second version of Ice, based on the HBO version, is forthcoming, but the novel version is all gone). These blades are all limited editions; when they are gone, they are gone, and the price on ebay and other collector sites tends to skyrocket. Robert’s Warhammer and the Night’s Watch dragonglass dagger set remain available from Valyrian Steel, but stocks are dwindling, so if you want one, don’t wait too long.

Swords and Daggers and Helms, Oh My

The blacksmiths over at Valryian Steel have been hammering away, and are about to roll out three news GAME OF THRONES products that I thought some of you might like to know about.

((These are all tie-ins from the television series, produced under Jalic’s license from HBO, and not tie-ins to the novels, produced under Jalic’s license from me, which is why some of them — the dagger, especially — look nothing like the item as described in the books)).

First, we have the longsword of Robb Stark, King in the North:

Next, the Catspaw Blade, used by the man sent to kill Bran in his bed:

The last, but decidedly not least, the helm of Sandor Clegane:

All the items are available for pre-order.

And don’t worry, Valyrian Steel is still at work on replicas of the weapons from the books as well. Brienne’s sword Oathkeeper should be next, if we can figure out how to do the black/red patterning. After that, maybe Khal Drogo’s arakh.

Keep your swords sharp!

Last Chance for Longclaw

Just got a note from Chris Beasley at Valyrian Steel.

He writes, “Just wanted to let you know that Longclaw is almost permanently sold out. I do not expect it to last through the month of June.”

So if perchance you’re one of the folks who has been saving your dimes and nickles to pick up one of the Longclaw replicas, act now, or you may soon be out of luck. These swords are limited editions, so once they are gone, they are gone. Valyrian Steel will not be making any more.

(I should add that Valyrian Steel has obtained a license from HBO to produce replicas of the weapons seen on the TV series, so they will be producing a “show Longclaw” at some point down the line. I don’t believe that one will be a limited run. This post relates only to their current version of Jon Snow’s blade, produced under a direct license from me — the “book Longclaw,” that is. That’s the one that is almost sold out).

Hammer Time

The good folks at Valyrian Steel have announced that they are now taking preorders for their massive, gorgeous replica of King Robert’s warhammer.

http://www.valyriansteel.com/shop/swords/king-roberts-warhammer/prod_14.html

Do note: these are preorders only. The hammer has not yet gone into production, and will not be shipping until Spring 2012.

Questions and comments should go Valyrian Steel.

Thanks.

ICE Now Shipping

Cool news from Valyrian Steel. Their full-sized steel replica of Ice is now ready and shipping.

Mine turned up a few days ago. If you preordered, you should have yours as well.

And if not, well, there’s still time to arm yourself for the invasion of the Others and/or the zombie apocolypse, whichever comes first.

Order from Valyrian Steel at http://www.valyriansteel.com/shop/swords/ice-sword-of-eddard-stark/prod_9.html

(I should note, for those who came in late, that the Valyrian Steel replica is derived from the blade in the books, and is NOT modeled on the version seen in the HBO television show. HBO preferred to make its own versions).

Replicas of Longclaw and Needle remain available as well, while the supply lasts.

For a sneak peek at the Hound from the 2012 ICE & FIRE calendar, check out John Picacio’s blog at http://picacio.blogspot.com/2011/06/2012-asoiaf-calendar-hound-preview.html

John has other sneaks up there as well, and will be giving more peeks in the future.

The calendar will debut at the San Diego Comicon in July, and can be preordered right now from Amazon or your favorite local bookstore.

Oh, and Valyrian Steel has sent me pictures of the prototype of King Robert’s warhammer, just received. Here, have a look:

Please note, this is a prototype. Further adjustments will be made before the hammer goes into production. For future details, or to weigh in with your own thoughts and suggestions, go to the Valyrian Steel website at http://www.valyriansteel.com/

Stick ‘Em With the Pointy End

Filming on HBO’s GAME OF THRONES series will be resuming in June, in Northern Ireland.

Maisie Williams, who will play Arya Stark, is preparing for her part by practicing her needlework. I though you might enjoy seeing these recent pictures of her that her mom was kind enough to send me.

Her sword, of course, is the full-scale replica of Needle produced by the good folks at Valyrian steel.

You can get a Needle for your very own Arya at http://www.valyriansteel.com/

Needle Is Here!

Got a big package from the good folks at Valyrian Steel t’other day, with my very own copies of Needle. The sword is back from the foundry and now shipping… so if any of you have a friend, foe, or relative you’d like to stick with the pointy end, this is your chance!

Needle was especially made for Arya Stark, as a child’s version of a bravo’s blade. Our replica has a 24″ inch long blade (30″ overall) of high carbon steel with full tang. The hilt is cast metal with antique nickel plate and leather wrap. A heraldic display plaque featuring the direwolf of House Stark is included, along with a certificate of authenticity signed by me. This is a limited edition of 2500 swords, and the back of each blade will be laser etched in fine print with the edition number.

To get your own replica of Needle, visit the Valyrian Steel website at http://www.valyriansteel.com/ The sword is shipping now!

Just got word from the good folks at Valyrian Steel. They are now taking preorders for their full-size replica of Needle. (Arya not included).

To place an order or get more details, visit their website at http://www.valyriansteel.com/shop/swords/needle-sword-of-arya-stark/prod_3.html

And if you want be the first kid on your block to collect the complete armory, copies of Jon Snow’s Longclaw are still available as well.

Don’t be fooled by the pictures, the two swords are nowhere near the same size.
